  of land.
• May vary in size from less than a meter to
  several hundred meters both in diameter and
  depth.
• Vary in form from soil-lined to bedrock-edged
  bowls.
• May be formed gradually or suddenly, and are
  found worldwide.

Why are there so many Sinkholes?

• A rapid increase in sinkhole activity can be
  caused by the development of land.
• This changes the earths surface and the weight
  on the soil beneath it.
• The creation of retention ponds, new buildings,
  homes, and roadways, can trigger sinkhole
  activity.

How to prevent Sinkholes

• Become aware of your surroundings
• When building have a special land engineer test
  the soil to make sure it is stable
• Build reinforcement on the ground to make it
  stronger.
