Guidelines for Graphing Rational Functions p. 345

• Let f(x) N(x)/D(x), where N(x) and D(x) are
  polynomials with no common factors.
• 1. Find and plot the y-intercept (if any).
• 2. Find the zeros of the numerator (if any).
• 3. Find the zeros of the denominator. (vertical
  asymptotes).
• 4. Find the horizontal asymptotes (p.338).
• 5. Test for symmetry.
• 6. Plot points between and beyond each
  x-intercept.
• 7. Use smooth curves to complete graph.
