    authorities to use their role as local community
    leaders in partnership with businesses, other
    local, sub-regional and regional public sector
    organisations and third sector organisations to
    achieve a more integrated approach to resources
    and waste in their area.

Waste Strategy

  • Facilitate procurement of recycling collection
    services and trade waste sites

    Project
  • Offer collection service to 900 local businesses
  • 2,300 tonnes collected 1,600 tonnes could be
    recycled
  • 93 wished to recycle
  • Materials to recycle were glass, cardboard and
    paper
  • Pilot Glass Collection
  • 26 licensed premises took part
  • Collected 7 tonnes of glass over a 2 week period
