Membership Drive
  • Creating new members
  • President and Club should be FULLY committed to
    the Program
  • Dedicate 4 consecutive meetings to the Program
  • 4 Meetings

First Meeting
  • Explain the Program
  • Distribute handout to list names of prospective
    new members
  • Collect handout and collatenames

Second Meeting
  • Present the list of names to the Club
  • 3 for 1 Teams Volunteer to contact the names on
    the list
  • Visit them face to face (personal contact)
  • Invite them to club on the fourth meeting as
    their guest
  • Volunteer to pick them up for club
  • 3 to 4 Contacts per member

Third Meeting
  • Each team reports on the contacts they made and
    their results
  • Generate a list of Guests that will attend the
    next meeting
  • Make-up name tags for the guests

Fourth Meeting
  • Make it a Special Meeting
  • Guest speaker should talk about the importance
    of the club to the community
  • Emphasis how much fun Lionism is
  • Invite Prospective Members to an Orientation
    Meeting

Bi-monthly Clubs
  • First meeting is the same
  • Membership chair must set-up a committee to
    handle the program
  • Pick the teams to make the contacts
  • 2-3 members to make 2-3 contacts
  • Calls / Contacts are completed before the 2nd
    meeting in the month
  • Step 4 - will be the first meeting of the
    following month

Monthly Clubs
  • First meeting is the same
  • Membership chair must set-up a committee to
    handle the program
  • Pick the teams to make the contacts
  • 2-3 members to make 2-3 contacts
  • Monthly clubs must do Steps 2-3 between meetings
  • Step 4 is the next meeting

Orientation Setup
  • Meeting should be held within 2 weeks of the 4
    meetings
  • Must be preplanned with the 4-step process
  • Coffee Cookies event
  • Last no longer than 1½ hours

Orientation Meeting
  • Fully explain the Organization of your Club
  • Explain your Clubs relationship to the District,
    Multiple District and Lions International
  • Explain how Lions help build their communities
  • Present membership applications and act quickly
    on them

Induction of Members
  • Special meeting
  • Induct the whole group together
  • Invite District Governor or PDG to perform the
    ceremony
  • Make it a special occasion

After the Campaign
  • Keep checking with Attendees for the next 60 days
  • For attendees that seemed interested but would
    not commit at the 4th Meeting
  • Bring Attendees back to regular club meetings to
    maintain their interest
  • Some people take a little longer with decisions
    like this

Notes for Success
  • Contact must be made in person
  • The membership committee must be a strong
    committee and willing to push
  • Immediate contact with prospects is a must
  • Re-contact prospects by phone 24 to 48 hours
    before the meeting
  • Try not to do the Membership Campaign for more
    then 30 days

New Member Coalition
  • New members are part of a coalition for one year
  • Meet monthly with President, 1st VP, Membership
    Chairperson
  • Meetings are an open exchange of new members
    views, good bad, of their Lions experience

  • Invite Chair of a committee conducting an
    important project
  • Goal is to involve new members in the operation
    of the Club and to use their talents to improve
    the Club and to make them better Lions
