2
Introductions/Agenda
  • Developers Track tailored to Audience
  • Today
  • 1115-1300
  • New Activity/Directions in SIF Infrastructure
  • 1400-1600
  • SIF for Developers/Technical Overview of
    Infrastructure
  • 1700 (for interested parties)
  • Internationalization Task Force Conference Call
  • Tomorrow
  • 900-1045
  • SIF/Development QA
  • Development/Implementation Experiences
  • 1100-1300, 1400-1515
  • Birmingham ZIS Connect-a-thon

3
New Activity/Direction
  • SIF Services
  • SIF SOAP Transport
  • Internationalization of SIF Infrastructure/Data
    Model

4
SIF Services
  • Complex choreographies and functionality only
loosely tied to a physical data model very
    difficult/awkward to model using existing
    services within SIFrequest, response,
    add/change/delete events
  • Services encapsulate data and provide interfaces
    to possibly complex functionality through
    methods/operations/notifications that make the
    most sense for the domain

5
Features of SIF Services
  • Provided in a SIF Zone
  • Asynchronous, routed by intermediary broker (ZIS)
  • Support both methods and notification events
  • Subject to access control
  • Packetization of large data transfers
  • Define their own sets of errors/faults, separate
from those of the SIF infrastructure

6
SIF_Message Implementation
  • SIF_ServiceRequest
  • SIF_ServiceResponse
  • SIF_ServiceEvent

7
Examples
  • Assessment Processing Service
  • Student Financial Account Service
  • Immunization Compliance Service

8
SIF SOAP Transport
  • Third SIF-defined transport after SIF HTTPS and
    SIF HTTP
  • Provided a Web Services over SOAP interface to
the ZIS (and to Push-Mode agents)
  • Leverage industry profiles to provide as much
    out-of-the-box interoperability as possible
  • Can be used to interface with all of the
functionality of the SIF infrastructure (provide,
    subscribe, events, request/response, etc.) in
    addition to SIF services

9
Internationalization of SIF Infrastructure/Data
Model
  • Eliminate dependencies of SIF infrastructure on
SIF data model, to allow pluggable
    international data models into one
    globally-defined infrastructure
  • SIF Infrastructure a specification unto itself
  • Each data model its own specification
  • Separate versioning and namespaces for
infrastructure and data models, a SIF
    Implementation Specification release still ties
together an infrastructure version and a data
    model version
  • Still need to work through versioning issues,
wildcard version support of infrastructure, data
    model and/or specification
  • Moving forward possible definition of shared
data model for common data objects, common
elements used in all international data models
  • Inaugural Internationalization Task Force
    conference call today at 1700
