Automatic Sprinkler Effectiveness
  • Most reliable form of fixed fire protection
  • Rarely fail to operate
  • There never has been a multiple death in a fully
    operational sprinklered building
  • 70 of all fires are controlled by activation of
    five or fewer heads
  • Less interruption of business and less water
    damage
  • Enhances life safety

3
How Automatic Sprinklers Enhance Life Safety
  • Water is discharged directly on the fire
  • The fire is usually controlled while it is in the
    incipient (growth) stage
  • Products of combustion are limited
  • Sprinklers help prevent fire spread
  • Occupants feel safer in a sprinklered building
thus reducing the likelihood of panic

  • Using two sprinkler wedges
  • Insert two wooden wedges, one from each side,
between the discharge orifice and the deflector
  • Use the heel of hand to drive wedge in place
