Interlocks
  • PPS (Personnel protection system)

Purpose protect people who are working
in/around the beamline.
Discussion about the policy of this interlock
system
(what kind of elements should be included etc.)
was started.
Initial version of interlock element list and
design of the logic diagram was started (with
the J-PARC safety group.)
  • MPS (Machine protection system)

Purpose protect beamline equipments.
(Magnets, beam monitors etc..)
Making the list of interlock elements.

For example, you can not open the shield just
above the target even if there is no beam.

Magnet power supply control system
RD is going on _at_ KEK
Experts in the beam channel group and online
group _at_ KEK
are now developing the standard control system
of the magnet power supplies.
  • Can be used in both fast and slow extraction
    lines
  • (normal conducting and super conducting)
  • Can be accessed from (compatible with)
  • EPICS (standard framework of accelerator

Beam monitor DAQ system
Beam monitor (DAQ) system (hardware/software)
has to be stable.
Essential for the beam tuning/handling.
We can not extract the beam without monitoring
the beam.
  • Timing signal / spill distribution

Timing information (absolute, gate) of the beam
spill
is essential for the neutrino beamline and
experiment.
used for the gate of the detectors, event
selection _at_ SK
modules for the timing/spill signal
distribution are available
( Basically, same modules used in K2K experiment
can be used.)
Accelerator group agreed to provide us
necessary timing signals for neutrino
experiment.
  • GPS

UW group members have been working on the GPS
system.
(They developed GPS systems for SK K2K
and working very stably.)

RD was started _at_ KEK and UW for these 3 monitors.

This monitor is also used for the interlock
system.
readout module RD for the slow extraction _at_ KEK
we can use the same system.
Monitor readout electronics should be ready in
2007JFY.

  • Beamline monitor readout software

DAQ system (hardware/software) has to be
stable. We can not extract the beam without
monitoring the beam.
Beam monitor DAQ system must have good interfaces
to the beam handling system
Information from the beam monitors needs to be
available for the accelerator group.
(Required the accessibility via EPICS based
system.)
Beam monitor data are also essential for the
physics analysis.
(Current) basic concepts Develop devoted DAQ
(readout / event building) system just as same
as the other neutrino detectors. Prepare
interfaces to access the data via EPICS. (use
RDBMS like MySQL etc.) RD of RDBMS-EPICS
interface is now on going _at_ KEK.
