Shelter
  • They lived in igloos.
  • They slept on platforms made of snow and ice.
    They also slept on platforms made of twigs and
    caribou furs.
  • Each igloo had some freshwater ice.
  • An Inuit family could build an igloo in a few
    hours.
  • They burned animal blubber to light their homes.

Clothing
  • They keep warm by wearing layers of loose-fitting
    clothing.
  • On top of the layers, they wore a furry parka
    that hung down to their knees.
  • They wore sealskin boots called kamikes or
    mukluks.
  • Women made clothes from the skins of foxes,
    bears, caribou, seals, and other animals.
  • The Inuit scraped the skins clean with a knife
