All Sufficiency of Scripture

• 2 Tim 316-17 All Scripture is given by
  inspiration of God, and is profitable for
  doctrine teaching, for reproof convincing,
  for correction correcting, for instruction
  training in righteousness, 17 that the man of
  God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for
  every good work.
• If a worship practice is not found in the
  Scripture then we cannot say that it was
  "inspired of God".

Memorials in Old Testament

• Rainbow (Gen 912-17 2 Pet 35-7) God will
  never again flood the earth against evil.
• Passover (Exo 1214, 26-27 133-10) God
  delivered Israel from Egypt.
• Sabbath (Deut 512-15 Exo 208-11 Heb 49-10)
  God created in 6-days, He rested, He promised
  eternal rest in Christ.

Reminders in New Testament

• add virtues to our character (2 Pet 112-15)
• false teachers are in the church (2 Pet 31)
• we can fall from grace (Jude 5)
• many will depart the faith (1 Tim 41-6)
• not to strive or argue (2 Tim 214)
• be subject to rulers authorities (Titus 31)
• baptism is a death, burial resurrection like
  unto Jesus (Rom 63-4 Col 211-13)
• Jesus was born of a virgin (Matt 1 Luke 2)

1 Memorial in New Testament

• 1 Cor 1123-26 For I received from the Lord
  that which I also delivered to you that the Lord
  Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed
  took bread 24 when He had given thanks, He
  broke it said, "Take, eat this is My body
  which is broken for you do this in remembrance
  of Me." 25 In the same manner He also took the
  cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new
  covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you
  drink it, in remembrance of Me." 26 For as often
  as you eat this bread drink this cup, you
  proclaim the Lord's death till He comes.

Jesus Death is the Beginning

What About Christmas?

  (Mithraic feast of Sun god).
• December 25th celebration Pope Liberius of Rome
  (360 A.D.) Archbishop Chrysostom (A.D. 386)?
• The All Sufficient Scripture is silent regarding
  a memorial to Christs birth.
• We are not to add to the Scripture (1 Cor 46
  Col 317 2 Pet 13 2 John 9)!

Arguments in Favor

• Jesus went to the Feast of Dedication
• But He went to teach (John 1022-39)
• Paul allows individual liberty (Rom 145-6)
• Personal liberties are not to become church
  practices (Gal 49-11)

The Birth of Jesus is a highly significant event!

• But the greatest demonstration of Gods love for
  man was understood at His death.
