- Display and basic logic applications could be
accessible using organic thin film transistors
(TFTs) - As the performance of the devices improves, more
demanding devices such as OLED, LCD and standard
ICs may be achieved
others will emerge as performance improves
8The eReader market
- Emerging market
- Products to date have focused on the book segment
- Each segment has unique product and solution
needs - Our display technology allows us to offer
compelling products to all segments

10Plastic Logics semiconductor technology
- Plastic Logic works with solution processible
organic semiconductors - this allows room temperature deposition using low
cost printing methods - inkjet printing, spray coating, flexographic
printing all shown to be suitable - The performance of organic semiconductors is
approaching that of amorphous silicon - while not suitable for applications requiring
high switching speeds, our organic semiconductors
are ideal for applications requiring large area
and low cost such as active matrix displays - current mobility is 0.02 cm2/Vs
- second generation materials offer improved
mobility - Plastic Logic materials are inherently stable
- devices fabricated and tested in ambient
environment - high performance encapsulation is not required
- Plastic Logic process uses significantly less
toxic chemicals
11Second generation technology
- Second generation semiconductor materials are
currently being developed - improved mobility
- faster refresh rate/higher on current TFTs
- suitable for second generation products (larger
displays, colour, video rate, etc.) - Target process developed to align as close as
possible to first generation process but for
optimal performance, additional equipment is
likely
12Our display technology leads the industry
- First and largest production plastic-based
display - Superior weight, durability and low cost of
manufacture - Strong IP position
- At least 12 years lead over competition
13Dresden display factory
12
- First plastic electronics factory in the world
- Best and largest plastic electronics
- Fully automated
- Opened 17 Sept 2008
- Capacity of 100,000s of units per year
- Displays being built, ramping to commercial
availability
14Our first product nothing like it
- Unique form factor
- largest display
- lightest e-paper device
- thinnest form factor
- shatterproof display
