Tragedy Strikes...Again
  • In Paris, on April 19, 1906, it was raining
    Pierre was crossing the street when he slipped
    and fell , then was ran over by a horse-drawn
    vehicle his skull was badly fractured and he
    died.
  • After her husbands death, Marie took over his
    classes and continued his research at the
    University of Paris.

  • July 4, 1934, Marie Curie died of leukemia, in
    Sancellemoz, France, at the age of 67.

  • First scientist to use the term radioactive
  • In 1898, Marie and Pierre discovered polonium and
    radium
  • In 1903, both were awarded the Nobel Prize in
    Physics for the discovery of radioactive
    elements.
  • In 1911, was awarded the Nobel Prize in
    chemistry.

    Institute of Radium.
  • She then went on and helped found the Curie

Summary
  • In my opinion, Marie Curie was one of the
    greatest female scientist in history. She had to
    suffer so many hardships in her life, but yet she
    was still successful. Today, many scientist have
    followed in her footsteps. She has inspired me to
    never give up, even when life seems to be over.
