• Academics scolars and activist. By the time he
  had died he had already written 17 books edited 4
  journals and played a key role in reshaping black
  and white relations in america.

• His mother was a domestic worker and his father
  was a barber. His father left when William was
  still very young. When his Mother died in
  1884,Dubois was 16 years old and penniless.

• When he was younger he was a time keeper in a
  local mill. When he was older he was a teacher at
  Wilberforce in Ohio at the going rate 800.00 per
  year.
