I. Worship at Work v.9-10
  • As the Roman Empire disintegrated due in
    great measure to the influence of Christianity.
    In more recent times the back of the black slave
    trade was broken in Europe and America due
    largely to the powerful, Spirit-led preaching
    and the godly Christian statesmanship of such men
    as William Wilberforce and William Pitt.

  • Our country will change not by politicians or
    laws but by the preaching of the gospel and
    changed hearts.

Five Principles to Live By
  1. Obey your master. We might say obey those in
    authority over you.
  2. Please your master. We might say work in a way
    that pleases those in authority over you.
  3. Dont talk back. This phrase literally means,
    Not speaking against. Ouch.
  4. Dont steal. This has the idea of stealing in
    small quantities or holding something back.
  5. Demonstrate trustworthiness. Refers to
    reliability, the quality of being utterly
    dependable.

Why Follow These Principles?
  • so that in every way they will make the
    teaching about God our Savior attractive. v. 10
  • Attractive is kosmeo cosmetic
  • When servants serve and workers work, they are
    Gods jewels reflecting His brilliance.

II. Grow in Grace
  1. Grace saves us from the Penalty of sin. v.11
  2. Grace saves us from the Power of sin. V.12
  3. Grace saves us from the Presence of sin. V.13-14

A. Grace Saves us from the Penalty of Sin
  • Salvation means to be delivered or rescued.
  • Romans 623
  • Two Aspects
  • 1. The Appearing of Salvation Jesus II
    Timothy 19-10
  • 2. The Availability of Salvation to all
    men. No restricts on offer.

B. Grace Saves Us From the Power of Sin
  • Grace not only delivers us, but teaches us.
  • How it teaches us
  • 1. The Lifestyle We Deny ungodliness and
    worldly lust.
  • 2. The Lifestyle We Desire soberly,
    righteously, and godly. it teaches us how to
    resist temptation.

C. Grace Saves Us From the Presence of Sin
  • One day we will be removed from this present
    worldand from its sin.
  • How so,
  • 1. The Return of the Savior Looking for an
    eager expectation perhaps today Lord.
  • 2. The Redemption of the Saints He will
    redeem set us free. He will remove his
    possession from the very presence of sin.

III. Respect our Rulers Seven
Characteristics
  1. Be Subject an attitude of the heart- Romans
    131 Submission focus not on personality, but
    on the position and sovereignty of God.
  2. Be Obedient outward expression of attitude.
    Also, Acts 529, Daniel 3
  3. Be Ready to do Good Acts of kindness
  4. Dont Slander no one
  5. Be Peaceable
  6. Be Considerate free from harshness- sweet
    reasonableness
  7. Show Humility

Summary
  • Citizens of Heaven but also of this world and as
    such we are called to
  • Worship at our Work, Grow in Grace, and Respect
    our Leaders.knowing
  • Abraham was a pilgrim who looked for a city
    which hath foundations, whose builder and maker
    is God. Hebrews 1110 1116
  • Praise God there is a better country awaiting
    those who bring glory to God in the way they live
    their lives as citizens of this world.
