  • All Tasks on Track.

10
MARCOOS Weather
  • Experimental Version of WRF installed at Mount
    Holly Weather Service Office.
  • Weatherflow data from gt100 sites formated for
    forecast validation and EDS.
  • Regional Offices (Taunton, MA Upton, NY Mount
Holly, NJ Sterling, MD Wakefield, VA) contacted
to begin inventory of available WRF products and
    share expertise.

11
MARCOOS HF Radar Operations
  • Operator Working Group biweekly calls.
  • 26 Existing Sites Inventoried and Database
    developed.
  • Software standardized
  • Network-wide monitoring scripts developed.
  • All sites reporting to the National Network
  • Sites Operated at Mid-Atlantic HF Radar
Consortium Phase 2 Response Level. (Phase 3 is
SCMI recommendation of 2 people per 5 sites).

12
MARCOOS HF Radar Vector Fields
  • QA/QC Standardized
  • Guidance Document Developed
  • Radial Data Merged in real-time
  • New merging algorithm developed
  • New Server mirroring national server installed
    for development
  • Merged files delivered to EDS via Opendap and
    STPS via ftp.

13
MARCOOS DMAC
  • MACOORA-wide DMAC plan in development
  • HF Radar surface current maps in EDS
  • Weatherflow winds into EDS
  • STPS is now being set up on EDS
  • Opendap servers being installed for most datasets
  • Glider Opendap formats are being redefined to
    improve utility for modelers.

14
MARCOOS - STPS
  • MAB Total Vector Files are retrieved hourly via
    ftp from Rutgers server
  • Hourly 24hr predictions from current time are
    made using STPS
  • STPS results are stored in SQL database and
integrated into GIS web based interface viewable
    at http//lisicos.uconn.edu
  • STPS results saved in NetCDF format for
accessibility through DODS requests to OpenDAP
    server http//nopp.dms.uconn.edu8080/thredds/cata
    log.html

15
MARCOOS MAB Glider Activities
  • First IOOS glider purchased, delivery May, 2008.
  • Gliders on regional MAB missions supported by
both NOAA IOOS and ONR MURI.
  • 10 IOOS/MURI deployments since March, 2007.
  • Working group meeting to focus deployment
    schedule on seasonal transitions.

16
MARCOOS MAB Satellite Imagery
  • L-Band X-Band data acquistion maintained.
  • Declouded and filtered SST test product delivered
    to modelers for assimilation.
  • Merged SST and Ocean Color Water Mass product
demonstrated with historical data and is being
    transitioned to real time.

17
MARCOOS HOPS Forecast Model
  • Testing initialization and assimilation schemes.
  • ONR Shallow Water 2006 test case.
  • Uses historical feature models (for GSMR and
    GOMGB) adjusted by new data.
  • SST, HF Radar, Glider and Drifter data are being
    used for assimilation.
