  • Clarity of communication
  • Soundness of argument
  • Quality of content (not quantity)
  • Response to cold calls
  • Special bonus given for very innovative ideas or
    very original insights

Individual Assignments
  • Graded assignments make up 30 of total course
    grade
  • There will be 3 such assignments, each carries
    10
  • These are to be done by those not assigned to
    prepare for the sessions with invited guests
  • Each is a 300-500 word response to a particular
    report or paper
  • The response could be a disagreement with some
    concept, expansion of some ideas raised,
    illustration from personal experience or any
    thing worth mentioning
  • Submissions will be graded on
  • Insightfulness of thought
  • Originality of ideas or concepts raised
  • Soundness of argument in support of thesis
  • Clarity of communication
  • Penalties to be incurred for
  • Late submissions (-2)
  • Plagiarisation (-10)
  • Submissions which are too short or too long (-2)

Individual Assignment 1
  • Give a 300-500 word response to the
    Technopreneurship 21 plan, from the perspective
    of ONE of the following
  • An entrepreneur
  • A businessman
  • A policy maker
  • Response could be a critique of some aspects of
    the paper, expansion of the ideas raised,
    illustration from personal experience or any
    thing worth raising
  • Assignment to be submitted by 6 pm Thursday 6 Feb
    to Koh CH
  • For ease of grading, hard copies (typed) to be
    handed up
  • Responses to be discussed in class 1-2 weeks
    after submission

Team Assignment
  • 4 teams will be picked to host 1 invited guest
    each
  • Each team is required to
  • Carry out background research on the guest and
    his company
  • Take care of all admin arrangements for the guest
  • Present the research to the class prior to the
    arrival of the guest (15 mins)
  • Host the 1 hour QA session that follows
  • Prepare present a gift to the guest (worth
    about 50)
  • Summarise the lessons learnt in a slide
    presentation to the class the following week (15
    mins)
  • A grade will be given for the entire team (30 of
    total grade)
  • Presentation slides to class before and after
    session to be submitted for grading
  • Grading will take into consideration
  • How well arrangements were made
  • Quality of the findings and presentation to the
    class

Team Project Concept
  • The class will be divided into 10 teams
  • Team members will assume the roles of founders of
    a start-up company CEO, CTO, CFO, VP
    Engineering, VP Marketing etc.
  • Each team will develop a business plan, a set of
    presentation foils and a 2 minute elevator pitch
  • Each team will make a 12/15 presentation a 2
    min elevator pitch to the class
  • The business plan presentation slides are to be
    submitted for grading

Team Project Grading
  • Team project will make up 40 of total course
    grade
  • Grading will be based on
  • Quality of the business plan (15)
  • Quality of the presentation slides (10)
  • Effectiveness of class presentation (10)
  • Effectiveness of elevator pitch (5)
  • Business Plan must not exceed 50 pages, excluding
    annexes
  • Presentation slides to be limited to no more than
    12
  • Class presentation and elevator pitch will be
    assessed by the class
  • A single grade will be given to the team
