SUMMARY OF FINDINGS OF MID-TERM EVALUATION
  • PIKs need more publicity
  • PIKs are better known in the age group of
    secondary level to degree level.
  • Information on agriculture, education, employment
    and development programmes, are most sought
    after.
  • PIKs are the primary source to get various
    examination results.
  • Information about land records is not much sought
    after.
  • Zilla Grandhalaya Samstha(ZGS) is to play a
    proactive role to sustain the PIKs.

RECOMMENDATIONS OF MID-TERM EVALUATIONS
  • Conduct of publicity campaigns on PIKs to expand
    its reach.
  • Major role to be played by Zila Gandhalaya
    Samstha.
  • Use of newspapers and cable TV as a means to
    increase awareness about PIKs.
  • Special efforts necessary to make women aware
    about the PIKs.
  • Special awareness camps to be organized for
    villagers coming to mandal headquarters.
  • Branch libraries in the villages should be used
    to create awareness about PIKs.
  • Educational information relating to different
    courses should be made available.
  • Continuous updating of the information provided
    at PIKs.
  • Use of internet resources for improving the
    services of PIKs.
  • Continuous supervision and motivation to the
    project staff are to be provided.

  • Networking PIKs With NIRD
  • Creating web site OF PIK
  • Act as a training center in collaboration
    with IGNOU and CDAC
  • More publicity to PIKs

EXTENSION OF THE PROJECT
  • Project is proposed to extended beyond 2002
  • Z.G.S. is not yet geared to administer the
    project
  • PIKs have yet to stabilise
