First Test Interpolation Purpose
  • Use existing tested runs to show how changing
    location can influence soil loss.
  • Show that there are no more sharp changes due to
    wind station changes
  • Show that ANY location change WILL cause a
    different soil loss estimate
  • Test the three ways to locate the point of the
    run, Center of the County, Direct enter Lat-Long,
    and Use Map Viewer.

Test Runs for Skip Row Cotton, TX Panhandle
8-11-09
  • The following runs were made using a standard
    template from CMZ 19 for Skip Row Cotton in the
    panhandle of TX
  • 8 Counties starting with Randall in the N and
    proceeding S to Midland.
  • All runs use Amarillo AmA FSL soil
  • These runs are based on the centroid location of
    the county

Summary
  • The interpolation routine that Fred Fox added to
    the model seems to work very well. There will be
    no sharp breaks when changing locations from
    station to station.
  • You should expect to get a slightly different
    soil loss if you do not use the exact same
    location (Lat-Lon).
  • Central States are ready to go.
  • We could start final testing.
  • I think I would like to wait for the new Map
    Viewer, since I have additional work to do in the
    West.
  • Still need CCE approval and NHQs blessing.

More Training?
  • Many of you have suggested that we have
    additional training.
  • I can do anything you all want.
  • My preference is to do it face to face.
  • Jeff suggested two, one in SD for northern
    states, and one in FW for southern?
  • I think Jerry said that FW for one meeting would
    be fine.
  • The last and most likely is that we will need to
    do it on the net.

  • Troubleshooting
  • Checking Templated Crop System Managements. (I
    am not convinced that we have what we need in
    them)
  • How to fix out of order operations.
  • How to add irrigation
  • Close calls should run long.
  • Calibration of multi cut crops.
  • Develop runs for and test your problem areas
  • Organic soils.

Time
  • Bill and I think 2.5 days. Come on Mon and leave
    on Thru PM.
  • May be in Nov or early Dec.
  • May depend on SRCs and funding.
