  • Penguins are birds, but they cant fly.
  • There are 17 different kinds of penguins.
  • Penguins are only found south of the equator.
  • Most penguins do not line in ice and snow.
  • Penguins live together in colonies or rookeries.
  • Penguin families recognize each other by their
    voices.
  • Penguin parents feed only their own chicks.

  • Penguins have spiky tongues that help them hold
    on to slippery fish and make sure the fish go
    down headfirst.
  • Penguins black and white patterns help
    camouflage them from predators
  • Their enemies include the leopard seal, killer
    whale, and skua.
  • Penguins can change direction in an instant.
    They can escape an enemy by zigzagging as they
    swim.
  • A penguin can hold its breath underwater for
    about 3 minutes, sometimes longer!
  • Adelie penguins can push themselves or toboggan
    on their bellies fast than they can walk and
    faster than a man can run!

    tasks

  • Read about your penguin with your partner.
  • Fill out the Penguin Report form
  • Your name
  • Your penguins name
  • Two facts about your penguin (i.e. where they
    live, what they eat, etc.)
  • Find out how tall your penguin is

  • Draw/print a picture of your penguin.
  • On your locker, measure the height of your
    penguin. Attach the penguin face and label your
    penguin.
  • Turn in your report to your teacher.
