We want Everyone to be a part of theBands in
Andover
  • Band is a regular class that meets for 30 minutes
    a day 4 days a week.
  • Band does not interfere with Church, Sports,
    Cheerleading, Basket weaving, or whatever your
    child is involved with.
  • Band is made up of most of the best kids in
    school.
  • The 165 piece High School Band consistently
    maintains a grade point average of 3.75 or
    higher.
  • There is a direct correlation between music and
    student achievement.

Expectations of The Instrumental Music Department
  • An instrument that is in good working condition
  • New-purchase
  • New-rental
  • Used
  • Each student is asked to make at least a year
    long commitment. We want them to be in band
    until they Graduate.
  • Dedicated practice time
  • Students need to come to class each day with
    their horns, books, supplies and pencil
  • Good Positive Attitudes. It will not sound so
    good at first and they might get discouraged.
    The Student-Teacher-Parent Team must keep them on
    tract to achieve
  • We expect the students to attend all of their
    concerts. One at Christmas Time and one in the
    spring.

    musician individual attention and off to a great

At Home Practice
  • Homework
  • Minimum of 2 hours a week or 20 minutes a day
  • Points will be collected every 2 weeks
  • 1 point is equal to 30 minutes of practice time

  • Instruments are available for purchase or lease.
    We can furnish a list of music stores in the area
    that sell Band Instruments
  • We would like for student to have their horns as
    soon as they can. We realize that some horns
    will need to be repaired. They are not required
    to have their horn for class tomorrow.
  • We recommend purchasing a cleaning kit, the band
    book, and a folding stand. Please note that the
    folding stand is for home practice. Each
    classroom has music stands available for school
    use.
