• Our explorers name is Ferdinand Magellan. He was
  born in Spain in 1480.

• Magellan was the first explorer to sail around
  the world. He sailed in 1519. He left from
  Portugal and sailed around the tip of South
  America to Asia.

• During his journey Magellan and his crew had to
  eat mice because there was no other food to eat.

• Magellan ask King Manuel if he could sail to the
  Spice Islands in the far east. He wanted to go
  to the Spice Islands so he could study all the
  different spices there. Then he promised to come
  back to tell King Manuel what he found.

• We think that Ferdinand Magellan was a a brave
  sea captain who found the Spice Island and
  sailed around the world.
