ADVISING PATIENTS ABOUT WORK - Diagnosis is
important teno RSI Occ Asthma are all
reportable (RIDDOR regulations) - Med Certs can
support recovery rehabilitation ask about
modified work - time away from work has health
affects GP role is complete only when the patient
is back at work. Agree a timescale - 50 of
those off gt6 months do not return to any form of
work. Work is good for you - Physio / CBT / work
counselling is required at an early stage - RTW
after acute symptoms of depression may aid
recovery - Ask what they can do and what is
preventing then doing this
9
- consider referral to Occupational health /
Disability Employment advisor at the jobcentre
(Access to Work) - only around 5 of employees
have access to occupational health - a company
has a responsibility to manage attendance and can
dismiss the patient while off sick Is it in
the patients best interest to be off work
? There will come a point at which work will
make you feel better - we dont want to miss
that www.dwp.gov.uk/medical
