people here present, more or less directly
involved in / connected to
the Nuclear Field
Officials from major public Institutions in
Romania, Experts of the International Atomic
Energy Agency, Experts in Analytical Chemistry
and Nuclear Analytical Techniques from Belgium,
The Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Hungary,
and from Romania, Representatives of private
institutions / companies involved in
the market, Representatives of the University and
other Training Institutions.

The special target of this meeting concerns
the Analysts in the nuclear field, people who
put in practice principles discovered and settled
in the Research area to the societys benefit.

I am
sure that every analyst from any laboratory would
tell us, if asked I know very well how to use
my equipment and perform measurements, so wheres
the big deal with this Workshop?
Just here is the point

The answer is
We are going at present through challenging
times, when - individually and as a scientific
community - we must prove how good we are in
our profession, because of competition, but also
because we should find the place of Romania in
the united Europe. The year 2007
is . coming ! The researchers, as
individuals, have generally proved their capacity
and good abilities, but with regard to the whole
community from our country it is still place
for better. The recent development of
terrorism imposes an answer to a major question
can any laboratory from any part of the country
give rapidly a valid Bulletin of Analysis,
acknowledged in all over Europe if some
radiological accident occur ? The unpleasant
experience with Cernobal happened !!

We need that every laboratory from any part of
the country be able to provide valid Results.
provide Bulletins of Analysis that could be
acknowledged all over Europe, and join the
European market, where the analytical capacity of
our techniques could be useful. This becomes
possible only if well align our work with the
quality requirements provided in the ISO
international standards applied in EU area, and
if well get Excellence in measurements. So,
will focus on
Quality and Excellence of measurements in
Applications of Nuclear Techniques.
In practice, this means to

Our further lectures/discussions will tackle
the following subjects and questions Quality
criteria that should be applied in our
measurements, including Uncertainty
control and radionuclide metrology, (emphasizing
the traceability aspects), which are problems
we have to face with usually. How valid are
the measurements performed in Romania ? Are they
good enough in Inter laboratory Comparisons at
the European leveI ? Is the research still
necessary?

Is it necessary to take part in
Inter-Laboratory Comparisons (ILC) and
Proficiency Test (PT) exercises? People from
Romania here present, who are dealing with
radionuclide measurement for the environment and
health control, radionuclide metrology, elemental
analysis in materials using nuclear techniques,
quality management, acquisition of nuclear
equipments and service, training of people
involved in nuclear applications (for medicine,
or industry), need discussions on the above
subjects .

For the reason to get the best and most
fruitful answers, this meeting is connected with
the high level science by means of our guest
invitees, who know and currently put in practice
the criteria of high Quality and Excellence, and
who - some of them- currently teach about all
these items. helps
to refresh the mode of thinking working in
Romania, so that to have success in the end of
some years with regard to Quality and Excellence.
