SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

What is the HPSP?
  • Full Tuition Scholarship for Medical or Dental
    School Accredited AMA or AOA Medical(Public or
    Private School) ADA Dental.
  • Covers required books, required fees and
    equipment and school health insurance(if
    required)
  • Provides monthly stipend of 1319.00
  • Provides you with 45 days of summer active duty
    service for clerkships or USMLE preparation (earn
    about 3000)
  • During school year, no uniforms and no drills
  • Scholarship worth HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF
    DOLLARS!

Eligibility Requirements
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Less than 40 at time of commissioning
  • Good physical health
  • Acceptance to an accredited Medical or Dental
    School in the United States or Puerto Rico. You
    can begin the HPSP application process upon
    receipt of MCAT or DAT results.
  • Need not have acceptance letter to apply!
  • Willing to relocate after graduation

    MUST COMPETE!
  • Deferments are available for HPSP recipients to
    complete a civilian residency prior to active
    duty.
  • If selected for full deferment wont come on
    active duty until training completed (wont have
    opportunity for GMO assignment).

  • No only about 6 of graduating class will serve

Do we pull people out of medical school or
residency to go on active duty?
  • NO! It is not beneficial to the Navy to take
    someone out of training. They are of no use to
    us in the fields that we need if they are not
    trained.
