Title A New Active Queue Management Scheme
Using Arrival Rate for Reducing Queue Length

2
Problem Definition
  • Many active queue management schemes respond to
congestion slowly since they use average queue
length which is collected during long period.
  • This slow response characteristic leads to large
    varience of queue size.
  • We will propose a new active queue management
scheme which responds more quickly, adjusts queue
size directly to congestion, and thereby minimize
    varience of queue size.

3
Motivation
  • It is important to avoid high packet loss rates
    in the Internet.
  • Though a number of proposed enhancements have
made their way into active queue management,
their contribution is not still sufficient to
    manage queue effectively.
  • So we propose a new way of active queue
    management.

4
Approach
  • Most of AQM algorithms use queue length or packet
loss in the router as indicator of severity of
    congestion.
  • We will use packet receiving rate as well as
queue length as indicator of congestion in
    router.
  • 10.28 design and analysis of effective
receiving rate measurement and make a new
    effective AQM algorithm.
  • 12.9 Implemtation and Simulation
  • 12.1 Term Paper

5
Deliverable
  • A new AQM algorithm and its analysis.
