Title: MyersBriggs Type Indicator
1Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
2Background
- Developed by Isabel Myers and Katherine Briggs (a
mother-daughter team) - Based on the theory of Carl Jung
- Personality traits are innate
3Preferences
- According to type theory, everyone has a natural
preference for one of two opposites on each of
the four MBTI dichotomies. - We use both poles at different times, but not
both at once and not with equal confidence. - When we use our preferred methods, we are
generally at our best and feel most competent,
natural, and energetic.
4How it Helps
- Helps you better understand your preferences
- Helps you to appreciate and build on your natural
strengths - Used as a tool to
- better prepare for tests
- improve writing
- make quality decisions
- manage time
- Help develop new insights into relationships
5Things to Know about Type
- It does not define you
- There is no right or wrong type
- It is not an IQ test
- The purpose of learning about type is to help you
understand yourself and others better.
