Title: MyersBriggs Type Indicator

1
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
2
Background
  • Developed by Isabel Myers and Katherine Briggs (a
    mother-daughter team)
  • Based on the theory of Carl Jung
  • Personality traits are innate

3
Preferences
  • According to type theory, everyone has a natural
preference for one of two opposites on each of
    the four MBTI dichotomies.
  • We use both poles at different times, but not
both at once and not with equal confidence.
  • When we use our preferred methods, we are
generally at our best and feel most competent,
    natural, and energetic.

4
How it Helps
  • Helps you better understand your preferences
  • Helps you to appreciate and build on your natural
    strengths
  • Used as a tool to
  • better prepare for tests
  • improve writing
  • make quality decisions
  • manage time
  • Help develop new insights into relationships

5
Things to Know about Type
  • It does not define you
  • There is no right or wrong type
  • It is not an IQ test
  • The purpose of learning about type is to help you
    understand yourself and others better.
