    on the UCAS tariff.

Initial thoughts
  • The group foresaw a number of barriers but
    considered that once these had been overcome the
    Diploma would present tremendous opportunities

  • FECs had already seen too much
  • curriculum change
  • ND GNVQ AVCE ND
  • Regular changes to the National Curriculum have
    meant constant disruption within schools

  • University staff were worried that it
    developmental work would be too time consuming
  • Employers were concerned that like the Foundation
    Degree it would be another qualification they
    didnt understand

  • Too many partners
  • Schools, HEIS, FECs, Industry etc
  • The principal learning syllabus was too broad
    with little depth
  • Too many options
  • Progression Diploma

  • Additional specialist learning ( 3 subjects)
  • Effect on progression to specific courses e.g.
    Civil Engineering
  • Concerns that CBE would become a dumping ground
    for less able pupils
