The Draft Resource consists of
  • 100 page document with
  • Introductory section rationale, overall aims
    objectives
  • Lesson plans for each unit with clear objectives,
    linkages to the syllabus, information resources,
    useful questions, suggestions for methodologies,
    activities exercises
  • Range of visual materials including maps,
    charts, photographs, models/diagrams a range of
    Irish case studies to explore key issues

  • Understanding development as a dynamic
  • process relevant to all local areas
  • Understanding sustainable development challenges
    for rural communities in the context of
    urbanisation processes
  • Exploring Integrated Area Planning (IAP) as a
    participative and enabling process for local
    decision making
  • Completing a sustainability web for ones own
    community
  • Reviewing positive case studies of rural and
    urban development in Ireland
  • The overall outcome for students might hopefully
    be one of understanding the key development
    processes in the geography of their own community
