Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana

• Programme launched on 25th Dec. 2000 as 100
  Centrally Sponsored Scheme
• The Primary Objectives
• All 500 Unconnected Habitations to be connected
  by 2007
• For Hill NE States, Desert and Tribal Areas
  250 unconnected habitations also to be
  connected.
• Secondary Objective To upgrade existing roads to
  ensure all weather farm-to-market connectivity.
• Total Investment Rs 1,32,000 crore
• Eligible Habitations 1,73,000
• AS per Core Network estimates (revised from the
  original Rs. 60,000 crore and 1,40,000
  habitations)

Bharat Nirman

• To cover 66,802 unconnected Habitations
• To Build 1.46 lakh Km of new Rural Roads
• To upgrade / modernize 1.94 lakh Km of Through
  Routes farm to market connectivity
• Estimated Investment Rs. 48, 000 Crore
• Completion by 2008-09
