What is Dementia Care Mapping?
  • An observational tool which Kitwood (1997)

    empathy and observational skill .

DCM in practice

experience and needs to form an action plan to
    improve well-being
  • Guides and supports the organisation of care away
from being task centred and towards person
    centred
  • Identifies and supports staff training
    development needs

Workshop Evaluations

    respecting people
  • Ive learnt that we should worry most about the
    quiet ones
  • ..Im now conscious that I haven't really been
listening to people I care for..
