Purpose of MYWA
  • To bring the Massachusetts youth wrestling
community together as a more organized group so
that we can work together to improve the youth
wrestling experience in the state for wrestlers,
    parents and coaches alike.
  • Increasing participation in youth wrestling
  • Improving the overall youth wrestling experience
  • Reducing overcrowded unnecessarily long
    tournaments
  • Providing a more manageable official State
    Tournament

6
We are not!
  • Before we go any further, we want to make
it clear that we are not trying to do is create a
removed organization dictating everything you can
and cannot do, or telling you how to run your
program. To the contrary, what we are proposing
an organization for the coaches and run by the
coaches, working together to make youth wrestling
    more enjoyable.

7
Organizing will allow us to
  • More collaboration and cooperation planning
    events
  • Every program to have an equal voice
implementing and modifying state tournament rules
    and formats
  • More communication among coaches
  • Will enable Massachusetts to be heard as a single
loud voice when it comes to representing our
interests in regional events such as the New
    England Championships

8
Walk before we run for 2009-2010
  • Adoption of Bylaws to govern the group
  • Elect Governing Board
  • Implementation of a basic structure for the state
    tournament

9
Sectional Qualifiers States (same as HS)
  • 4 Sections, divided up evenly
  • A1, A2, A3, A4..B1, B2, B3, B4 etc
  • Kapp Wrestling
  • Big East will be modified so as to not conflict
with our proposed schedule and maintain a novice
tourney. Most likely before the sectionals and
    avoiding the February vacation weekends
