6Descopes
- Build only 16 or 17 flight towers?
- Tower-0 used up a lot of flight material that we
have to replace if we want to build the 18th
tower. - We are having yield problems with other parts, in
particular the MCMs. - This potentially could require painful actions
such as making more ASICs in order to built 18
more towers. - We are already going out to purchase more
long-lead material such as the carbon-carbon for
tray fabrication, and we are considering building
more bottom-tray closeouts (all U.S. expense). - Tower-0 probably could be refitted to make an
acceptable beam-test tower by replacing or
reworking the layers that are dead using good,
but non-flight parts. - Such a beam-test tower would not require
environmental testing, resulting in some more
savings.
