RationaleEnergy is one of the prerequisites
for development. More than 1.6 billion people are
presently without access to modern electricity.
Renewable energies such as PV systems are among
the least-cost and most feasible solutions on the
short and medium term.

development in non-electrified rural areas of
developing countries by promoting accelerated

association open to all organisations supporting
its mission

contribute to the Millennium Development Goals by
accelerated deployment of renewable energy
technologies- To include all relevant actors
such as industry associations, developing
organisations, NGOs, governments, financing
institutions- To create increased awareness
among decision makers on the possibilities of
sustainable energy services- To increase the
quality of electricity services, meeting the
needs of the people

recommendations to donor countries/organisations
and DC on the set-up of appropriate programs and
policies- The Alliance supports the creation
of enabling environments for the implementation
of renewable energy technologies in DC

Policy Recommendations (II) - The Alliance
supports national policies creating appropriate
local infrastructure, e.g. for (micro-)
financing, deployment, servicing, quality
control, training, capacity building, etc. -
The Alliance stimulates private sector
participation both in the developed and
developing world - The Alliance stimulates
policies safeguarding the quality of
equipment/services
9
Exchange of information and dissemination- The
Alliance facilitates the dialogue between the
involved stakeholders- The Alliance provides
information to its members, e.g. concerning
schemes related to quality control of systems and
services, calls for tenders, concessions, country
information, best practices, case studies,
etc.- The Alliance promotes its mission to
other stakeholders

Strategy/Outlook
  • Certification and technical control
  • - The ARE after having established and
guaranteed the collaboration with the World Bank
and other donors, will ensure that the
realisation of the projects and policies are
    correctly implemented and certification and
guarantee issues are properly respected. Make
sure that the money of the donors is used for the
purpose assigned initially. A label of quality
ARE can be created based on PV GAP and the Global
    Compact principles.
