Aligning a Paragraph
  • You can change a paragraphs alignment via the
    Format menu and clicking Paragraph.
  • Allows you to modify general options,
    indentation, spacing, and preview your changes.

Indenting a Paragraph
  • An indent is how far each line of the paragraph
    is set in from the margin.
  • Allows for right and left indenting.
  • Available through the Format menu, Paragraph.

Changing Line Spacing
  • Available through the Format menu, Paragraph.

Inserting Page Numbers
  • Allows you to automatically insert page numbers.
  • Available through the Insert menu, Page Numbers.

Opening a Template
  • Click on Start menu, All Programs (or Programs).
  • Click New Office Document.
  • OR
  • Open Word.
  • Click the File menu.
  • Click New.
  • Click On My Computer

  • Microsoft Office Online has hundreds (if not
    thousands!) of templates you can download for
    free.
  • Click the Templates on Office Online link in the
    New Document task pane.

  • Edit templates like any other Word document.
  • Modify template elements like page formatting
    and pictures.

  • Allows you to customize a new template for your
    needs.
  • Can also modify existing templates.

Checking your Spelling and Grammar
  • Will automatically scan your document for
    spelling and grammar errors.
  • Available via
  • Spelling and Grammar button on the standard
    toolbar.
  • F7 key on your keyboard.
  • Tools menu, Spelling.

Using the Spelling and Grammar Context Menu
  • If automatic spelling and grammar checking is
    turned on, you will be notified when your text is
    identified as misspelled or grammatically
    incorrect.
  • Misspelled words have a red wavy line under them
    while grammar spelling errors have a green wavy
    line under them.

  • Available through the Spelling and Grammar
    window.

Searching for ClipArt
  • Microsoft Office Word 2003 comes with hundreds of
    ClipArt images.
  • You can also search for more ClipArt,as well as
    movies, sounds, and photographs, on the Office
    Online Web site.

Types of Links

There are four types of links that you can create

Inserting a Link
  • Select the text you want to make a link.
  • Click the Insert menu and click Hyperlink, or use
    the Ctrl K shortcut.

Editing a Link
  • Select the hyperlink.
  • Right click and select Edit Hyperlink.

Following a Link
  • Place your mouse over the link.
  • Use CTRL click to open the link
  • Once youve followed a hyperlink, it will turn
    purple.
