  • CGA is an acronym for Color Graphics Adapter
  • It is an optional 3rd party hardware component
    that is installed inside the fi-5650C or fi-5750C
    Fujitsu scanners to hardware some VRS features.

Features of hardware-assisted VRS
  • What VRS features are hardware assisted by the
    VRS CGA for Fujitsu
  • fi-5650C and fi-5750C?
  • Thresholding. This is the VRS Basic feature of
    improving image quality at scan time.
  • Crop and Deskew. Cropping is delivering an image
    of the actual document size at scan time based on
    length instead of a user setting. Deskew is
    correcting any angle introduced to the document
    by placing the paper incorrectly in the feeder,
    miss-feeds, etc.
  • JPG Compression. Optimizing the image format for
    quality and size.
  • Automatic Color Detection. ACD is the analysis of
    color images at scan time to determine the color
    content. Using ACD enables mixed batches of
    documents to be delivered as either color or
    black and white images depending on their
    content.
  • Color Background Saturation, determining at scan
    time if the color document has a solid background
    and optimizing the color for quality and image
    file size.

  • When your scanner is set for color scanning, you
    can use the settings on the Color panel to
    implement  the Automatic Color Detection feature.
    When Automatic Color Detection is in effect, VRS
    will evaluate an image to determine whether or
    not it should be processed as a color image or a
    bitonal image. Automatic Color Detection is the
    ability to detect and process a color image, or
    color content within an image. Automatic Color
    Detection involves an evaluation of the overall
    content within an image as well as the
    concentration of color content.

  • Background saturation
  • When processing images that have a color
    background, you can configure VRS to change the
    background color to black or white. You can also
    configure VRS to smooth the background to a value
    that represents an aggregate of the detected
    background colors. Additionally, you can select a
    setting that controls how sensitive VRS is to
    background colors.

Using Color Saturation VRS used a sophisticated
algorithm to determined the most likely 'real'
color and applied it as shown. File size is
reduced to 171k after saturation.

  • Content-based rotation
  • No need to places your documents right-side up
    anymore. Let the intelligent VRS software do all
    the work for you. Places documents upside-down,
    scan in landscape and let the software
    automatically rotate the images to the proper
    orientation. You can use the settings on the Skew
    panel to straighten images, crop images, and
    perform edge cleanup. Images can be rotated up to
    360 degrees clockwise or counter-clockwise using
    the movable angle control arm, or they can be
    automatically deskewed by selecting the Deskew
    check box. If necessary, you can fine-tune the
    rotation with the Fine Angle Adjustment slider.
    When the Angle box lists 0.00, the image is
    displayed as it was originally scanned

  • Blank page deletion
  • From the Blank Page panel, you can use a sample
    image to select your preferences for automatic
    blank page deletion.  When you enable blank page
    deletion, VRS automatically removes any page that
    is determined to be blank. Terrific time-saving
    feature when scanning mixed batches of simplex
    AND duplex documents.
