Active Reserve (AR)
  • Service commitment
  • 20 days per year (for efficiency)
  • CO approves to 100 days pa
  • Higher approvals to 150 (Fmn COMD)/above 150
    (CA)
  • Tax free pay, Attendance Allowance and Reserve
    Service Allowance
  • Efficient service entitlements include access to
  • 600 Health Support Allowance (HSA)
  • Defence Assistance Study Scheme (DASS)
  • Subject to funding approval and eligibility
  • Defence Home Ownership Assistance Scheme (DHOAS)
  • Note not all Corps/trades have ARes positions in
    every region.

High Readiness Reserve (HRR)
  • 10,000 completion bonus after 2 years HRR
  • 2,500 annual Health Support Allowance
  • Min 32 days and Max 50 days obligation
  • AIRN compliant and have deployable competencies
  • Maintain Medical and Dental status
  • A HRR position available

DI(A) PERS 79-6 Management of High Readiness
Reserve Personnel within the Army

Reserve Response Force (RRF)
  • 20 days pa training obligation
  • 700 annual completion bonus
  • Must be AIRN compliant Med, Dent etc
  • Must be an available RRF position

  • Holding pool of trained Reserve and ex-ARA
    members
  • AIRN compliance not required
  • No set training obligation
  • Compulsory to transfer to SR if enlisted after 01

  • Continuous Full Time Service (CFTS) may be
    available

    comes under command of CA

Personnel Agencies (APA)
  • Part of the Armys Career management structure
  • Career Management of Active Reserve component
  • Similar roles to DOCM-A and SCMA
  • Are located nationally in all capitals, plus
    Townsville to cover North QLD
  • APAs are there to help you contact details
    available today.
  • They will be your primary contact when the time
    comes to transfer from the Standby to Active
    Reserve

Career Management in the Reserve Army National
Standby Reserve Agency (ANSRA)
  • Raised in 2008 to specifically manage and
    administer the Standby Reserve (SR) component
  • Communicate / re-engage into Army
  • Maintain annual contact with SR members
  • SR can be used to fill ARA and AR vacancies and
    undertake project work (where skills set and
    currency match the need)

Defence Reserves Support Council (DRSC)
  • A Tri-Service organisation with a national
    network of offices
  • Provide a local link between the ADF, employers
    and the wider community
  • Has responsibility for employer engagement
    activities, and the interface with business and
    government leaders
  • Local source of information and support

Employer Support Payment Scheme (ESP)
  • Provides financial support to employers to help
    them release Reservists
  • Payment of 1,183.10 pw (as at Jul 2009) full
    time rate

  • transfer to SR from AR
  • transfer to ARA.

Transfer Procedure and Contacts
  • Submit application via Orderly Room
  • - Application for Resignation, Discharge
  • or Transfer to the Reserves (AC 853)
  • Unit forwards to APA in Region of
  • separation via DOCM-A or SCMA.
