Class goals

• To provide enriching literacy experiences for
  your child
• To expose your child to the many literary genres
  (poetry, novels, media resources, mysteries,
  science fiction, etc.)
• To key in on specific strategies that are tied to
  student goals to improve reading skills

Homework

• Your childs weekly homework is to read a minimum
  of 20 minutes 5 times a week. The log they
  complete needs to be initialed by YOU. Please
  help your child with this requirement.
• Occasionally, there will be other assignments
  that need to be completed at home please check
  our Reading blog (Mrs. Israel-Hiles Reading).

Grading System

• Each activity will be assigned a category
  rather than a topic (homework, test, quiz, etc.)
  This way, it is the work being completed that
  matters and NOT the place where this work is
  completed that is emphasized.

Propaganda Unit

• For instance, in our current unit, grades will be
  counted as follows
• Notes Category 2
• Reflections Category 1
• Group Activities Category 2
• Quizzes Category 1
• Television Commercial Assignment Category 3
• Unit Test Category 3
• Unit Project Category 4
