    right learning environment is provided.
  • Provide guaranteed and top-class infrastructure,
    connectivity, content, and mentoring.

    scope of syllabus and curriculum

Specification of a JKC
  • A center with a computer lab of 50 state-of-the
    art networked computers, Internet connectivity, a
    modern classroom, a media room, and facilities
    for residential accommodation to the 40 best
    students from various colleges and 8 mentors
  • A learning management system with extensive
    content from experts and support for
    collaborative tools
  • Dedicated set up for each student on an extended
    basis (goal 24 x 7 x 365) access to the
    designated student

JKC Implementation
  • Inauguration by the Chief Minister of Andhra
    Pradesh on 01-December-2005
  • 32 Centers (one was withdrawn due to
    infrastructure related issues) in 17 districts
  • 1066 students of Computer Science Engineering
    (CSE), Information Technology (CSIT), Electronics
    Communication Engineering (ECE) from 102
    engineering colleges
  • 150 mentors
  • 42 industrial partners

Problems Faced with the JKC Implementation
  • Permission from the Government for transfers
  • Infrastructure Problems power, connectivity,
    hostels
  • Restless youngsters unused to learning-by-doing,
    group-learning, and any kind of planning
    planned work. Rumors travel fast.
  • Havoc created by Experiment in a controlled
    manner ? Exploit the best practices learnings
  • Dislocation of women students (from students
    their parents)
  • Self-arrogation by selected colleges and students
  • Indifferent (Government-) clients for
    live-projects
  • Limited participation (as of now) by the
    Industrial Government Partners
  • Financial Difficulties
  • Accusations Rumor Mongering
  • Discrimination against Men
  • Preparation of People for Call-Centers
  • Dictatorial attitude with the schedules and
    practice of soft-skills

JKC Achievements
  • National e-Governance Award Winner 2005
    Exemplary Initiative (Bronze Medal)
  • Completion of the first batch of 1066 graduates
    whose practical skills are on par with the best
    coming out of the best institutions in the
    country
  • People who understood and put to use the software
    engineering concepts end-to-end to real use
  • Completion of 200 projects (70 distinct
    e-Governance projects) for over 50 departments at
    the district state level
  • Several JKC projects are nominated to CSI contest
  • Campus placement has begun just now IBM started
    the exercise by visiting 2 centers and as many as
    12.5 students (55) entered the final (HR) round.
    Satyam short-listed 430 candidates through its
    first round. Other companies are in the pipeline.

    mentors having seen the benefit of the program
