Introduction
  • This training is designed to help you understand
  • How to access ADP using the web
  • How to navigate through each section of ADP
  • How and when to complete a Development Plan
    including
  • Assignment preferences
  • Developmental preferences
  • Leadership Opportunity preferences
  • Career Broadening preferences
  • Developmental Education preferences

Important Items
  • It takes approximately 30-60 minutes to complete
    a Development Plan
  • Meet with your supervisor to get career
    counseling prior to starting ADP
  • After completing your Development Plan, review it
    carefully before submitting it to your reviewer
  • Automatic email notification should go to your
    supervisor, but check within a few days to ensure
    that it did
  • A Development Plan for Leadership Opportunities
    can only be submitted to AFPC by your Senior
    Rater/Endorser
  • Depending on your purpose and Career Field Team
    requirements, most other development plans can be
    submitted by your supervisors reviewing official
  • 24-hour technical support is available (DSN
    665-5000 / Comm 210-565-0102)

To access the ADP, log into the AFPC website and
click on the Secure Apps tab
To access the ADP application, you must have a
CAC and PIN (Click on boxes to close them)

Select your authentication and click ok

Enter your PIN, then click ok

Click the ADP tab

Click yes

Change role allows you to switch to any roles
you were assigned (i.e. commander
equivalent/endorser, CFT, etc.)
Dashboard has four sections
Notifications shows any notifications you have
received based on your roles
Basic Info you can update duty phone and email
by clicking Edit Basic Info
Development Plan Status shows status of your
Development Plan (DP)
Development Plan Reviewer History Shows who has
reviewed the DP

  • Development Plan used to start or edit your ADP
  • Career Brief contact your CSS or CPF if
    information is incorrect
  • CPD review your career planning diagram
  • Add/Associate use to add people in your chain
    of command who are sister-service or reservist.
    See the Add/Associate tutorial for more
    details. (DO NOT USE THIS FUNCTION TO ADD AF
    MILITARY OR AF CIVILIANS)

Senior Rater/Final Endorser per your DCPDS
Hierarchy or CFT direction.

Click here to create a development plan
  • Use the drop down menu to select a draft or
    archived Development Plan (past T-CDPs were not
    transferred into this tool) to review, then click
    View to change which version of your
    Development Plan you want to review.
  • If you already have a Development Plan in draft
    or a previously archived one, youll be able to
    review the last information entered on the
    screen.
  • You can only edit and submit draft Development
    Plans to the reviewer.
  • Once your Development Plan is submitted to AFPC,
    it will be final.

  • 1. Select one or more of the following options
  • Assignment Consideration
  • (for CFT use)
  • Vectoring (for DT use)
  • Leadership Opportunities
  • (per CFT designation)
  • Career Broadening (Formal
  • CB Program)
  • Developmental Education
  • (for DE Call)

2. Only choose Leadership Opportunities (LO)
or Developmental Education (DE) if you are
eligible for LO or DE opportunities as determined
by your career field and there is a current call
for candidates. ADP will require your endorser
to forward your nomination to AFPC.

Developmental Information (DI) Tab contains
baseline information related to your development.
After you first choose your core career field,
and its validated by your CFT, your career field
is locked until you change career fields.
Besides deployment geographic mobility, you are
able to designate choices for developmental
mobility.

Check page will give you any errors for the page
check plan gives errors for planin red at top of
1st page
As you progress through the plan, you may check
each page or the whole plan by clicking one of
these buttons.
Once youve completed each Tab, click Next to
move to the next tab.

1. Choose your intent statement these intent
statements are non-binding but only indicate
intent
2. Indicate your estimate of Vacate Current
Position date

  • After completing all sections, click check
    plan and you will get a continuous read-only
    copy of the plan to review.
  • If needed, make corrections.
  • If you desire a printed copy, click
    print--this is the only chance to print your
    Development Plan as one scrolling document.

After reviewing, click save continue

1. Set career field to correspond to your Core
Career Field and click Set Position
2. Select position MAJCOM
3. Select choice priority and Click
Add/Update that moves the selection from this
work area to the appropriate choice below

4. To update location preferences, click here
(up to 5 for same position)
5. Click AP Choice and then Add/ Update to
record each assignment location preference

Once youve finished selections, you may add,
rearrange position choices, edit, or remove
selections. When you choose edit, the
application moves the info back to the working
area above.

When finished, click next to move to the next
section data automatically saves
Click save to save data to return to update
later

1. Select duty type, job level, and MAJCOM for
each track
3. Click Add/Update to enter selections in
Developmental Preferences after selecting
2. Select a priority for each choice you make.

4. Repeat steps 1, 2, and 3 to enter additional
choices. Once completed, click next to move to
the next section data automatically saves

  • Only individuals meeting a Leadership
    Opportunity (LO) DT should complete this section
  • Call for candidates should be out
  • Only Senior Raters/Endorsers can submit your
    Development Plan for LO

Select the statement of intent to express your
desire to compete for an opportunity (contingent
upon your eligibility)
Enter relevant comments here
  • Select your LO preferences from the dropdown menu
  • Click select
  • Indicate Choice for selection and click
    Add/Update
  • You may select up to 5 leadership preferences, if
    eligible

  • This Tab is an application for the
  • formal Career Broadening Program
  • Complete Statement of Intent
  • Select Opportunity, Job level, and MAJCOM
  • Provide appropriate comments
  • Click Save or Next to save each selection.

  • This Tab is an application for the
  • formal Developmental Education
  • Program and replaces the AF Form
  • 4059.
  • You are only eligible for those
  • menu choices that appear under
  • Opportunities.
  • Select eligible Opportunities and place in Choice
    order
  • Provide appropriate documentation and comments
  • Click Save or Next to save each selection.

  • If required by the program(s) you selected, enter
    appropriate test scores.
  • Include your comments that justify your selections

  • Click on the Continue Services Statement to
    indicate concurrence
  • Optional to complete Suggested Comments for
    Final Endorser in the three areas below.
  • Click Next to move on.

Add comprehensive comments to elaborate on
development plan or on previous selections and
communicate information not addressed elsewhere.
  • You can fill out suggested comments for your
    rater
  • Your rater will see these comments and can
    edit them
  • Click next to save move to next page
  • Click save to save stay on same page

After review, you must fix errors displayed
before the Development Plan can be forwarded.
You are to select to whom you want the ADP sent.
Information on your Supervisor should appear in
the box below. If its not correct, you may
search for the correct reviewer.
  • The system displays your DCPDS hierarchy to make
    it easier for you to select your next reviewer in
    the rating chain if your reviewing official
    information is incorrect.

If the person that you want to send your
Development Plan to is not AF, click on
Add/Associate Other User (follow the
Add/Associate tutorial for step-by-step
directions) (DO NOT USE THIS FUNCTION TO ADD AF
MILITARY OR AF CIVILIANS)

After youve checked your plan and selected your
reviewer, press the Submit for Review button.

  • If you need to make a change to your development
    plan, click Recall Development Plan
  • If it has already been opened by your rater, it
    will not be returned to you you will need to ask
    your rater to click on Release Development Plan
    to Member
  • If it hasnt been accessed, Edit Draft
    Development Plan button will appear allowing you
    to edit
  • NOTE Once your development plan is forwarded
    to AFPC,
  • it cannot be recalled

The comments block allows you to provide the
rationale for your recall request.

To ensure your ADP has been submitted to AFPC,
check View

  • Check other tutorials for fulfilling other role
    requirements.
