Mission Statement

• The Alliance of Collective Darkness has made it
  our mission to create a solar powered dryer that
  corrects the inefficiencies of the more popular
  electronic clothes dryers in modern society. Our
  goal is to create a product that can be used as a
  quick and energy efficient way to dry clothing
  while providing consumers with privacies denied
  to them when hanging loads of laundry on a
  clothesline

Final Design Overview

• Features a centrifuge to force most water from
  the clothes rapidly
• Dehumidifier dries up remaining water
• Powered entirely by solar energy
• Result less energy usage

Final Design Basic Concept

• The centrifuge spins the clothes at such a high
  speed, water is literally crushed out and
  filtered out the sides
• Dehumidifier actively works to remove remaining
  water, not simply evaporate it out

Dryer vs. Dehumidifier

• Standard dryers use a combination of air
  circulation and manual tumbling to blow hot air
  across the clothes
• Air is heated with coils and sucked through the
  machine and out the lint filter
• Heating the coils requires a lot of energy, and
  much of it is wasted

• Dehumidifiers use less energy by cooling air in
  the dryer, allowing the moisture in the air to
  condense on an object, and reheating the air to a
  moderate temperature

Conclusion

• By upgrading technology and making energy
  efficiency a priority, we have developed a dryer
  that drastically reduces energy consumption
  without sacrificing quality of drying. The
  versatility of our dryer allows for rapid drying
  of small amounts of clothing, or efficient drying
  of large loads at once.
