Title: GYCA is a youthled global network of 4500 young leaders working to end the spread of HIV in over 150

1
  • GYCA is a youth-led global network of 4500 young
leaders working to end the spread of HIV in over
    150 countries.
  • It was initially proposed by youth attendees of
the 2002 Barcelona and 2004 Bangkok International
    AIDS Conferences.
  • GYCAs mission is to empower young leaders with
    the knowledge, skills, resources and
opportunities they need to be successful agents
    of change in their communities.

2
  • GYCA uses basic online social networking, using
    TakingITGlobals platform, to connect young
people working on issues of HIV with other young
leaders, mentors, NGOs, and government officials
    in their communities.
  • GYCAs four priority areas were determined by
    young activists via a month-long e-consultation
on a TIG e-group. The priorities are
  • 1) Networking and sharing of best practices
  • 2) Building the capacity of young leaders
  • 3) Political Advocacy
  • 4) Preparing for International Conferences
