National Picture-UK Economy
  • DCMS mapping survey, 2001
  • The survey showed that the Creative Industries
    sector
  • 7.9 of the UKs Gross Domestic Product in 2000.
  • Between 1997 and 2000, the sector had achieved
    average annual growth of 9.0, in comparison with
    2.8 for the whole economy
  • Similar growth in exports by the sector 13 as
    opposed to 9 for service industries and 5 for
    the economy as a whole

    industries businesses in York and North Yorkshire

    (27), Harrogate (24.5) and Scarborough (13.1)
