What is Junior Faculty? An organization that...

University (i.e. postdocs, researchers, assistant
professors). represents the interest of ca. 300
registered members in the Junior Faculties at
MedFarm and TekNat is coordinated in two
steering groups, one at MedFarm and one at
TekNat. is striving to become a University-wide
representative of junior researchers at Uppsala
University. The Junior Faculty is currently
organized at MedFarm and the TekNat Faculty,
actively promoting the start up at the Domain of
Humanities and Social Sciences (HumSam).
Ambitions of Junior Faculty The Junior Faculty
at Uppsala University is an organization that
aims to support and promote the career
development of junior researchers.
The ambition of JF-TekNat and JF-MedFarm is to
positively interact with the respective faculty
board to develop an optimal working environment
for junior researchers, for instance, to promote
the development of their research independence.
It will work for a transparent and unambiguous
recruitment policy of junior researchers. The
Junior Faculty will provide consultancy to junior
researchers on career development, research
funding and grant proposal writing. The Junior
Faculty functions as a platform for the formation
of new scientific networks, thus ensuring the
continuous generation of new, creative and highly
competitive research environments at Uppsala
University.
Junior/Future Faculty in Sweden Several
Swedish universities and högskolor have some
kind of Junior Faculty (JF) in at least one of
their faculties. JFs are common at other
Universities worldwide (e.g. Junior Faculty
Development Program, USA). A national network
(NOJS) has been formed to coordinate the efforts
of the local Junior/Future Faculties.
