Dissemination
  • "Il Machining nel futuro dellIndustria dei
Trasporti, Aeronautica e degli Stampi" (Machining
in the future of Transport, Aeronautic and Moulds
Industry), Fiat Research Centre (CRF), Orbassano
    (TO-Italy) on November 22nd, 2002. About 200
    attendants, from University, Research Centres,
and several industries among them machine tool
builders, tool manufacturers, moulds and dies
    manufacturers.
  • OCEAN Workshop, ISW Stuttgart (D) on December
5th. 41 attendants, coming from University,
    Research Centres, and industries.

Dissemination Plan (conferences)
  • FTK (Fertigungstechnisches Kolloquium) at the
University of Stuttgart from 13 to 15 October
2003. ISW will present the state of OCEAN on
different booths and it is intended to present a
    first prototype on a presentation-machine.
  • KULeuven organizes a Linux in Control workshop,
in Leuven, on 9 and 10 May 2003 (http
    //www.realtimelinuxfoundation.org/events/licws-200
    3/ws.html).

5
Dissemination Plan (publications)
  • ISW A paper for the CIRP 2nd International
    Conference on Reconfigurable Manufacturing in
    August. Abstract already submitted.
  • ISW An article in the journal Production
Engineering, abstract already delivered to the
    publishers.
  • ISW, WZL, HOMAG An article in the German
journal WT-Online, abstract already delivered to
    the publishers.
  • KULeuven articles in the IEEE International
Conference on Robotics and Automation (2002,
2003), and in the Real-time Linux Workshop
(2002), on the design and the free software
    implementation of the DCRF.
  • KULeuven A journal publication on the same
topic is to be submitted in the near future.

Contacts with other projects
  • TORERO (July 2002-December 2004) create a total
    life cycle web-integrated control design
architecture for distributed control systems in
factory automation. In other words an
architecture which allows e.g. a community
of intelligent sensors and actuators (each
equipped with a logic controller) to (first) self
configure and (later on during their life cycle)
    maintain their functions automatically from
the Web and to jointly solve an automation
problem without a central control unit.
  • NEOxITE (September 2001-February 2004) develop
an Internet enabled embedded system for real-time
control of industrial plants to be used on pilot
as well as remote sites,  for optimisation and
evaluation of critical processes as well as for
    embedded control systems.

20
Contacts with other projects
  • DOTS (ended February 2002) establish an open
software model, built upon real-time distributed
    object technologies and emergent tele-control
standards, to allow the optimum exploitation of
the interoperation capabilities of devices and
systems in the distributed context of an electric
    power grid.
  • DOTS is using an ORB that is property of a
Spanish company. It's a real-time broker of small
size. The RTOS used was VxWorks 5.4. running on
top of an embedded device designed and built by
ELIOP. The application communicating through the
ORB was designed and implemented by ELIOP.
  • PABADIS (December 2000-May 2003) IMS distributed
intelligence through the use of agents.
