  • All correspondence from the Honors office will be

    will contain important information about trips,

Reasons For Inactivation
  • 4 or more Valencia withdrawals on a students
    record within the past 5 years (results in
    permanent inactivation)
  • Valencia cumulative GPA drops below a 3.0
    (reactivation will occur once the student
    notifies the Honors Office that GPA has risen
    above a 3.0)
  • Student has not taken an Honors course for two
    consecutive terms (excluding all summer terms)
  • At the end of each term, active Honors students
    are monitored for compliance with program
    criteria.

Degree and Certificate Requirements
  • Honors Degree students must complete at least 24
    Valencia Honors credit hours within 80 total
    credit hours, with a minimum cumulative GPA of
    3.5
  • Honors Certificate students must complete at
    least 12 Valencia Honors credit hours within 80
    total credit hours, with a minimum cumulative GPA
    of 3.25
  • Students must complete a Graduation Application
    for an Honors Degree or Certificate upon
    graduation
  • (Additional requirements are listed on the back
    of the Honors Program Application and at the
    Honors web-site)

Curriculum Options for Honors Students
  • Interdisciplinary Studies Honors Curriculum This
    program covers 24 hours of the students general
    education requirements by integrating the
    disciplines of English, humanities, social
    science, and natural science (students can choose
    to take all or part of the program)
  • Course-based Honors Curriculum Offers over 38
    individual Honors courses that range from three
    to six credit hours each
  • Students can also mix and match to fulfill their
    Honors Degree or Certificate requirements!

    courses)

What does Interdisciplinary Studies offer?
  • IDH is team-taught by four faculty members from
    several academic disciplines, and provides
    students with a strong background for further
    college work.
  • IDH 1112 Humanities non-writing, 3 hours credit
    humanities writing reinforcement, 3 hours credit
    (fall session only)
  • IDH 1110 English Comp I, 3 hours credit
    humanities non-writing, 3 hours credit (fall
    session only)
  • IDH 1111 English Comp II, 3 hours credit
    natural science, 3 hours credit (spring session
    only)
  • IDH 2120 Humanities writing reinforcement, 3
    hours credit social science, 3 hours credit
    (fall session only)
  • IDH 2121 Humanities writing reinforcement , 3
    hours credit natural science, 3 hours credit
    (spring session only)
  • Take one class and get six honors credits!
