letter of complaint

  • Who are you going to write the letter to?
  • What is the purpose of your letter?
  • What point are you going to include in your
    letter?
  • What kind of language will you use in your
    letter?

  • Dear Sir or Madam,
  • I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with
the service I have received from your company
since purchasing a portable CD player from you
    via the Internet.
  • Firstly, although I placed my order before 11am,
the Discman was delivered ten days later and not,
as you advertise, on the following day.
Furthermore, I was charged an extra 5 for
postage and packing, despite the fact that your
conditions clearly state that this is free on
    orders over 50.
  • To make matters worse, when the Discman
eventually arrived, I discovered that it was
faulty, as it caused my CDs to jump. I therefore
returned it to you requesting a refund. According
to the terms of your money back guarantee, I
was supposed to receive this money immediately.
However, I have been waiting for over a month and
it has still not been repaid.
  • As you can imagine, I am rather disappointed
with the service offered by your company. I trust
you will now give the matter your immediate
attention and credit my account with 100.
  • Yours faithfully,
  • George Dubya
  • What is the purpose of each paragraph of the
    letter?
