  • 600K funding to UNIFEM for Safe Cities projects
    to protect women from violence in Guatemala City,
    Guatemala and San Salvador, El Salvador
  • 600K funding to UNICEF to prevent
    Mother-to-Child transmission of HIV in Rwanda
  • 450K funding to UNFPA to reduce obstetric
    fistula in Liberia

  • ZISVAW Projects 2008-2010 (Zonta International
    Strategies to Prevent Violence Against Women)
  • End violence against women through community
    action in Cambodia
  • Combating physical violence against women
    supporting implementation of protective
    anti-discriminatory laws policies in Egypt
  • Community based center for housing and
    rehabilitation of women victims of violence in
    Syria

Advocacy
  • Urging the US Senate to ratify the 30 year old
    Convention to Eliminate Discrimination Against
    Women (CEDAW)
  • A 1979 comprehensive international treaty to
    eliminate discrimination and abuse of women
  • Signed by President Jimmy Carter in 1980, but the
    USA is the only industrialized nation that has
    not ratified the treaty.
