Younger Years

• As a young boy the Fisher King was sent out to
  spend the night in the forest to have his courage
  tested. During this time is when he had a vision
  of the Holy Grail. The Holy Grail is the cup used
  by Christ during the last supper. In the vision
  the Holy Grail was surrounded by flames, but the
  Fisher King tried to take it anyway knowing he
  would obtain great wealth. For all of his effort
  his only reward would be severe burns and a
  lasting wound.

Healing

• As the Fisher King grew into an adult his wounds
  only grew deeper as he became more alone. As he
  was walking in the forest he met a court jester.
  Concerned for the Fisher King the court jester
  asked if he could help the Fisher King. The
  Fisher King explained that he needed a drink
  because he was thirsty. Willing to help his new
  friend the jester brought him a drink in his
  crappy cup. That is when the healing began for
  the Fisher King.

Legend

• In the legend of the Fisher King we eventually
  learn that greed is destructive, but if we are
  loving and care for others Christ will heal our
  wounds. While we are all distracted by power,
  fame, and fortune we forget the important things
  in life. We learn that the important things in
  life are compassion, love, and serving others. We
  do this by having the grace of Christ on us.
