comparative biomedical education, scholarship,
and public engagement in the University of
Illinois system, in the state, in the nation, and
around the world.

lifelong educational experience in the art and
science of veterinary medicine and comparative
biomedical science. - 2. Maintain high-quality, focused research
programs and expand collaborative programmatic
interactions. - 3. Address the needs of a changing profession and
a diverse society in innovative ways. - 4. Include a global dimension in all activities
by developing international programs and
collaborations. - 5. Improve and strengthen operational efficiency,
facilities, and financial health. - 6. Promote and foster an environment of
collegiality and professionalism.
4Proposal for Facility Master Plan

interaction, provide people spaces to enhance
community, and improve the visual image of the
college.
5Create a link building with an Information
Commons including, but not limited to

- teaching labs computer suite
- study rooms student space
- exercise facility cafeteria
- bookstore library
- administrative units other ?
6Provide for the functional and visual integration
of multiple buildings
- Allow for the remodel of small animal medicine
and surgery space. - Study the best location for clinical pathology.
- Incorporate the footprint of biowaste/biosafety
facility. - Expand VDL space for a possible state lab merger.
- Determine the best use of SOL.
- Study the traffic flows and possible change of
entrances.
7Plan for Vacated Space Grounds
- Plan for the conversion of vacated space into
research use for labs and office space based upon
college priorities. - Plan for the conversion of vacated space for
instructional use considering a larger student
body requiring bigger lecture rooms and teaching
labs. - Create a master site plan including parking,
landscaping and grounds, memorials/a perpetual
garden, location of the medicinal toxic plant
garden, and storage.
