What is Mother Board
  • The motherboard is the main circuit board inside
    your PC.
  • Every components at some point communicates
through the motherboard, either by directly
plugging into it or by communicating through one
    of the motherboards ports.
  • One big communication highway.
  • To provide a platform for all the other
components and peripherals to talk to each other.

3
COMPONENTS
  • Some of the key components found on a motherboard
    include
  • The CPU (microprocessor)
  • Microchips that provide support for the CPU.
  • Random Access Memory (RAM) chips.
  • The system Bus
  • A Keyboard controller and connector.
  • A mouse connector.
  • Power connectors.
  • Serial and parallel communications ports.

4
How it works?
  • Specific actions
  • Electronic impulse
  • Board determines
  • What the impulse is?
  • What is needed?
  • Which component?
  • Signal sent to component
  • Examples (type a key from the keyboard)

5
Types of Motherboards
  • INTEGRATED
  • NON-INTEGRATED
  • Commonly used mother boards
  • AT
  • ATX

SUMMARY
  • to provide the electrical and logical connections
by which the other components of the system
    communicate.
  • nearly all motherboards include logic and
connectors to support commonly-used input devices
  • With the steadily declining costs and size of
integrated circuits, it is now possible to
include support for many peripherals on the
    motherboard.
  • The "Chipset" is the set of integrated circuits
that control most of the activities that take
place on the motherboard. They also interface
with most of the circuits of the motherboard.
