UNCONVENTIONAL CONFIGURATIONS

• Conventional Configuration the user community
  has some degree of familiarity and confidence.
  Example the classical wing / fuselage / tail
  design used by over 90 of all airplanes.
• Unconventional Configuration Results when a
  designer cannot meet certain extreme or novel
  requirements with a conventional configuration.
  Unique configurations are likely to evolve under
  either of the following scenarios The designer
  is confronted with
• A large number of specific design requirements
  which have not before been integrated into an
  airplane.
• One or two extreme design requirements which
  cannot be achieved by a conventional
  configuration.
